19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
